1,258 open Florida AHCA assisted living licenses, pulled from the state registry on October 24, 2026. Open a county list for every facility's address, phone, licensed beds and AHCA license number.
As of October 24, 2026, Florida AHCA lists 1,258 open assisted living facility licenses across the three counties: 810 in Miami-Dade, 252 in Broward and 196 in Palm Beach, with 30,013 licensed beds in total.
The mix is lopsided. 645 of Miami-Dade's 810 facilities are licensed for six or fewer residents. Most are family-run homes in residential neighborhoods of Miami and Hialeah. Broward and Palm Beach have fewer, larger communities: 41 Broward and 44 Palm Beach facilities hold 100 or more beds, against 22 in Miami-Dade.
Larger, well-known communities with a full profile: license history, AHCA inspection summary, sanctions on record and tour questions.
41 facilities hold an Extended Congregate Care (ECC) license, 86 hold Limited Nursing Services (LNS) and 496 hold Limited Mental Health (LMH). Each is an add-on to the standard Florida ALF license, and the tags in the list below show which facility holds which.
ECC lets a resident stay as needs increase, with nursing services provided directly or by contract. AHCA must send a registered nurse to monitor each ECC facility at least twice a year (F.S. 429.07). LNS adds specific nursing tasks to a standard license. LMH lets a facility serve residents who have a mental health diagnosis and receive optional state supplementation; most of the region's LMH licenses sit in Miami-Dade's small homes.
Open the license-number link on any row. It goes to that facility's AHCA profile on FloridaHealthFinder, which shows license status and dates, specialty licenses, the owner, and any fines or sanctions, with a link to AHCA's inspection reports.
Florida classes ALF deficiencies by severity under F.S. 408.813. Class I and II are direct threats to residents and are fined even when corrected; Class III and IV carry a correction deadline. A record with only Class III paperwork citations reads very differently from one with a recent Class I. Each featured profile summarizes the latest AHCA inspections.
Assisted living helps with daily activities in a licensed residential setting. Memory care is assisted living for people with dementia, with the added staffing, activity and training rules of F.S. 429.178. Neither may serve someone who needs 24-hour nursing supervision.
| Assisted living is / isn't | Memory care is / isn't | |
|---|---|---|
| Florida license | Assisted Living Facility (ALF) license, F.S. Chapter 429 Part I | Not a separate license: an ALF that advertises Alzheimer's or dementia care must meet F.S. 429.178 |
| Who it is for | Adults who need help with bathing, dressing, medication and meals, but not 24-hour nursing | People living with Alzheimer's or another dementia who need supervision, cueing and a secure setting |
| Overnight staff | Set by census under the 59A-36 staffing rules | 17 or more residents: an awake staff member on duty at all hours (429.178); smaller homes may use monitoring |
| Activities | General social and recreation calendar | Activities designed for cognitively impaired residents (429.178) |
| Staff training | Core ALF training under 59A-36 | Added Alzheimer's and dementia training and continuing education (F.S. 430.5025) |
| What it isn't | Not a nursing home: no ALF may keep a resident who needs 24-hour nursing supervision | Not a promise of locked doors or a separate wing; ask how the space is secured |
Miami-Dade holds 810 of the region's 1,258 licenses, but Broward and Palm Beach hold more of the large communities. Open a county for the full A–Z list, or use the complete assisted living list with its city filter.
